Site Updates

01/20/2011

It's been a long time since I did anything with the Sims or Sims 2. My life took a few interesting turns, but ultimately didn't go anywhere worthwhile. I have been spending most of my time lately rebuilding my life.

For the last two years I have been doing a ton of computer programming. About a year ago I decided that perhaps I could make some money by writing a few apps, games in particular. While I had never published a game before, I didn't see any reason why I could not.

I have created some twenty games so far. Most of these are available for Windows based PCs through the Intel AppUp Center. I have also published some of the same games for Windows Phone 7. The Windows Phone 7 games can be purchased through the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace or on Zune.

I would like to invite visitors to my Sims site to visit my new games site:
JAMESGAMES.NET - acade games and puzzle games

The Windows Phone 7 games have a completely free trial mode that does not expire. The games on the Intel AppUp Center can be returned within 24 hours free of charge. ALL OF THE GAMES ON BOTH PLATFORMS ARE ONLY 99 CENTS!!!

Even if you don't want to try or purchase any of my games, you can still "Like" my new website on Facebook. (My new website has it's own Facebook page.) On the main games pages there is a Facebook Like button. You can Like my new website with a single mouse click!

New Object: OFB Wage Adjuster - The OFB wage adjuster allows you to set an employee's wage to an exact simolean amount, instead of picking something vague like "extremely overpaid" or "fairly paid". It allows you to set the wage regardless of the skills an employee has or does not have.

Object Update: Hungernator 1.1 - Version 1.1 tests to see if the sim is browsing a ticket machine and won't make them hungry if they are.

You can find them both here:Sims 2 Objects

New Fix: Employees Don't Get Served - Sims serving a group meal on a lot with a home business will not set a place for employees who are on the job. You can find it here Sims 2 OFB Fixes

New Fix: Frozen Customer Fix - Under certain circumstances an OFB customer will freeze up when standing at the cash register. The frozen customer will stand there like a statue, blocking the register from further use. This often causes the next customer in line to become blocked, so they will throw down their bags in frustration. The problem is caused by the register clerk and the frozen customer becoming out of sync during the begining of the transaction. This fix should completely eliminate the dreaded frozen customer syndrome. I consider this to be a critical fix for Open For Business. You can find it on the Open For Business fixes page here: Sims 2 OFB Fixes

New Fix: Harvested Plants Disappear Promptly - After installing Apartment Life there was an issue with garden plants not disappearing promptly after being harvested. This was causing problems with the "Harvest Many" option in addition to making my Employee Gardening Controller rather inefficient when harvesting was going on. This fix changes the global code for garden plants so that they will be removed much more promptly after being harvested or composted. You can find it on the Apartment Life fixes page here: Sims 2 AL Fixes

Content Note: Many people were having problems getting the cafeteria worker to appear on my Slappy's Flop House lot. The packaging process seems to have made the ShinyTyme Cooktop unable to generate the cafeteria worker. The solution is to delete and replace the cooktop prior to moving anyone in.

09/16/2008

New Object Set: Vocational Training - The Vocational Training Controller will allow a playable sim or their employees to train other sims in skills or badges. The instructor must possess the highest possible skill in a subject in order to be able to train others in it. With this object it is possible to create a vocational training institute in your town to gives your citizens the job skills they need to compete in a global economy. You can find it under Business Facilitators here: Sims 2 Objects

Object Update: Visual Teleporter 1.2 - Added support for teleporting in the new social group townies from the Apartment Life expansion pack. You can find it under Other Object here: Sims 2 Objects

09/10/2008

New Object: Automatic Rent & Bill Payer - This object will pay your sim's rent and bills automatically. You can find it under Home Life Improvements here:  Sims 2 Objects

New Fix: No NPC Witches On Community Lots - This fix will prevent NPC witches from appearing on any community lot. It will not prevent playable witches from showing up as visitors or customers.

New Fix: Cafeteria Worker For Apartment Lots - This fix will cause the ShinyTyme Cooktop from University to spawn a cafeteria worker on apartment lots. The cafeteria worker will perform the same functions as they do on Uni dorm lots.

You can find both new fixes here: Apartment Life Fixes

New Lot: Slappy's Flop House - I used to watch TV shows like Dragnet where they would says things like, "he's currently living in a flop house on East 83rd Street". When they went to said "flop house" it was usually a run down building with the residents living in single room apartments. On one episode a bunch of downtrodden looking men were sitting around in the common area of the apartment watching TV. In my quest for cheaper living I decided to make my very own flop house. You can find it here: Apartment Lots

Apartment Life Compatibility Update #3

At this point in time I have tested the majority of the content on my website for compatibility with Apartment Life. Other than the two fixes that I identified last week, everything appears to work the same as it did before AL. If you have specific issues with objects from my web site, please let me know in my support forum. SimWardrobe's New Support Forum

09/04/2008

NEWS: I have a new support forum. Inge Jones at Simlogical is hosting it as a subsection on the simlogical forums. I have also found a volunteer to moderate the forum, so answers to questions and problems should be more forthcoming than they have been in the past. You can find the new support forum here:

Apartment Life Compatibility Update #2

I've been running my game with my fixes in place and everything appears to be working as expected. My OFB fixes in particular seem to work correctly with Apartment Life.

Object testing is underway and I have a list of what I've tested so far here: Apartment Life Object Compatibility Notes This list is a work in progress as I still have many object left to test. I will update that thread as I complete more testing.

New Fix: Apartment Life "Show Item To" Fix - After installing AL I noticed that I was unable to use the "Show Item To" social interaction on sims that my salesman had not personally greeted. This was a big change from OFB where all customers were considered to be greeted by everyone as soon as they entered the lot. There is a new community lot greeting system in Apartement Life and this system was preventing me from playing my businesses as I did before. This fix restores the original OFB functionality of the "Show Item To" interaction. You can find it under Apartment Life fixes here: Sims 2 Fixes

Apartment Life Compatibility Update #1

The following fixes Should *NOT* be used with the Apartment Life expansion pack:
SW-Employees-Dont-Get-Served.package
SW-Invite-Entire-Household.package

I am modifying the above fixes for use with Apartment Life and they should be in my next site update.

All other fixes on my website have "scanned clean" during my differential analysis. I will be testing the functionality of each one in game to see if they still work as intended. Everything indicates that they should work the same with Apartment Life as they did with Freetime and/or older expansion packs.

FYI: My support forum has been overrun with spam and today I find that I can't even make any new posts in it. I will most likely create a brand new forum as the current one has degraded to the point of complete uselessness.

08/27/2008

Apartment Life compatibility note: I will be testing all of my objects and fixes with the new Apartment Life expansion pack. I will issue updates to my content as needed. Since I have so many items on the web site now, the whole process will probably take about two weeks. I will be starting threads in my support forum and updating them as I determine what works and what doesn't.

03/21/2008

New Object: Employee Car Restoration Controller - The employee car restoration controller will allow you to assign an employee to repair the restorable car that came with the FreeTime expansion pack. The controller can be configured to have the employees paint the car in the color you select. Employees assigned to this controller will take breaks as required, provided they have access to the objects needed to do so.

New Object: Employee Coffee Maker - This industrial strength coffee maker can only be used by employees that are on the job. It is the pefect object for a breakroom used by employees that burn through their energy quickly.

You can find them both here:  Sims 2 Objects

News Item: FREETIME IS NOT THE LAST EXPANSION PACK!!!
I have received some independent verification that there will be another expansion pack for the Sims 2 after FreeTime. I do trust the person who gave me this information and I believe it to be real. The confirmation of the next expansion pack came from someone at Electronic Arts who is actually working on the project. I am unable to reveal the name of my source as I promised them that I would not. Because I have no proof to show anyone, I had debated whether or not I should share this with my fans. I know how badly some of you want one more expansion pack, so I felt it would be nice to let the rest of you in on what I have been told.

FreeTime Compatibility Update #3: Virtually all of the objects on my site have been tested with FreeTime. The only ones that did not work correctly were the remote control toys. They have been updated and can be downloaded now.

Object Updates: Radio Controlled Toys - All nine of the radio controlled toys have been updated to work correctly with the FreeTime expansion pack. There is a new FreeTime version of each of them. The new versions now animate the sim properly and the give tinkering hobby enthusiasm. You can find them on the radio controlled vehicles page here: Sims 2 Objects

New Fix: NPC Phonebook Fix - After the installation of FreeTime the phonebook no longer shows any of the NPCs that should be callable, such as the Maid, Gardener, Etc. This is due to a glitch in the new LUA script that is supposed to filter out the "uncallable" NPCs. This fix makes the non BV NPCs callable again and has the added bonus of allowing you to call the new Hobby Club Leaders on the phone. You can find it under FreeTime fixes here: Sims 2 Fixes

FREETIME NOT THE LAST EXPANSION PACK???

I was almost, but not quite convinced that Freetime was the last expansion pack for the Sims 2. I had always thought that if Freetime was indeed the last EP, that they would have said something by now. I've been toying with the idea of trying to ask EA directly and I may still pursue that if an annoucement is not made soon.

In the meantime however, it would seem that an author for prima games has said that Freetime is not the last. You can read his comments for yourself here:
Prima Games Forum

FreeTime Compatibility Update #2: I have completed 90% of my object testing. You can see the complete list here: FreeTime Object Compatibility The radio controlled vehicles on this site do NOT work correctly with FreeTime. I will be making FreeTime compatible versions of all of them.

New Fix: Model Trains Dont Burst Into Flames - The Model Train Table has a 2% chance of bursting into flames every time it is operated on a residential lot. This fix completely eliminates the possibility of that happening. Model trains do not burst into flames in real life and I can't see any reason they should in the Sims 2. You can find it under FreeTime Fixes here:  Sims 2 Fixes

Object Update: Visual Teleporter 1.1 - Updated to teleport in the new hobby club leaders that came with the Freetime expansion pack. You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

03/02/2008

New Object: Predestine Hobby Adjuster - The Predestined Hobby Adjuster will allow you to view or change the predestined hobby of any sim on the lot. You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

New Fix: Stop All Hobby Related Idle Gestures - This fix will stop all hobby related idle gestures. Sure they were cute at first, but after a while they just got on my nerves... You can find it under FreeTime Fixes here:  Sims 2 Fixes

03/01/2008

FreeTime Compatibility Update #1: I have tested all of my fixes with the new FreeTime expansion pack. Only two of them needed to be updated.

Fix Update: Pay Owner To Play - FreeTime altered the code on the arcade games so they would give hobby enthusiasm when used. There is now a special FreeTime only version of this fix.

Fix Update: No Social Worker For Hot Or Cold - The social worker was changed in FreeTime. There is now a special FreeTime only version of this fix.

New Fix: Employees Make Pottery Dammit - The pottery wheel works just like the OFB crafting stations do, right down to having the same exact flaws. This is a routing fix for the pottery wheel so employees will find a open one to use, rather than all trying to use the same one and then failing.

New Fix: Axe Throwing Dont Make You Stinky - This is a fix for Bon Voyage that I sort of forgot to release. Axe throwing makes a sim's hygiene drop very quickly. This fix removes the stink from axe throwing.

You can find all of the above fixes here: Sims 2 Fixes

02/27/2008

Freetime Compatibility Note: My copy of Freetime will be here tomorrow and I will be testing my fixes, objects and programs just as soon as I can. I will post lists of what is and isn't compatible in my support forum and I will post links to those posts on this page.

02/21/2008

New Object: Visual Teleporter - The Visual Teleporter will allow you to bring any sim in the game to your lot. The sims you can choose from are sorted into logical groups like NPCs, townies and playable sims. The telephone dialog is used so you can easily find the sim you are looking for. You can see the thumbnail portrait, first and last name and the lot address (if applicable) of the sims before you pick one to teleport. You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

Object Update: Checkbook 1.1 - The checkbook was showing all of the new BV families and locals instead of just playable sims. I have altered the code in such a way that the BV tourist families and locals are filtered out and any new NPC "townies" added by the new Freetime EP will be filtered out as well. The checkbook and check will now display the first and last name of the payee and the check signatory instead of just using their first names.

Object Update: Employee Massage Controller 2.0 - The improved employee massage controller awards customer loyalty after a massage is given. There is also a new visual employee assignment dialog so you can see who you are assigning to the controller. The dialog that reports the controller settings now has the picture of the sim who is assigned to the controller.

New Fix: Massage Playables Don't Go Broke - This fix prevents playable sims from spending any actual money when purchasing a massage. I needed this in my Jamestown neighborhood since the massage parlor opened. Some of my playable sims get two or three massages a day! You can find it here: Sims 2 Fixes

12/20/2007

New Object: Dueling Swords - These fine swords can be used to duel other sims in a realistic looking sword fight. The sword fighting provides fun and social and will not result in injury to either participant. You can find them under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

Object Update: Crate of Throwing Axes 1.1 - Fixes the bug where throwing axes did not work when indoors.

12/12/2007

New Object: Crate of Throwing Axes - This crate of throwing axes contains many axes that can be thrown at other sims. As you might imagine, this can prove fatal. You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

11/27/2007

New Fix: Bellhop Repair - This package will make the bellhop NPC repair broken items when he is idle. It should not interfere with his normal duties like room service. This is a global code fix and not an actual object. It is located on the new NPC page here: Sims 2 Objects

New Fix: Improved Housekeeping - This package will change the hotel housekeeper to make the NPC much more efficient. The housekeeper will also start earlier and work later to make sure the cleaning gets done. This is a global code fix and not an actual object. It is located on the new NPC page here: Sims 2 Objects

New Object Recolor: I have created three more Christmas recolors for my Openable Gift objects. You can find them on the Openable Gift page here: Sims 2 Objects

11/23/2007

New Object: Employee Digging Controller - The employee digging controller allows you to assign an employee to dig for objects. The objects that are dug up are placed into the business owner's inventory. Since digging is a dirty business, the controller will push the employee to use a communal shower if they stop digging due to low hygiene. You can find it under Business Facilitators here: Sims 2 Objects

11/16/2007

New Object: Employee Massage Controller - The employee massage controller allows you to assign an employee to sell and perform massages in an OFB business. The type of massage to be given can be set on the controller. This controller will allow you to run a massage business with the employees doing all of the work. You can find it under Business Facilitators here: Sims 2 Objects

11/03/2007

New Object: Bigfoot In A Box - Tired of tramping about in the woods searching for a bigfoot? Well search no more! This fine product contains one genuine bigfoot in a handy statsis package (so he won't spoil). Just pop the seal on the package and you'll have a bigfoot of your very own. There is a normal bigfoot and a realistic skills version. You can find it under Other Objects (at the top of the page) here: Sims 2 Objects

09/18/2007

Bon Voyage Object Compatibility Update: I have tested all of the objects on my web site to make sure they still function correctly. All of them appear to work as well as they did with Sims 2 Seasons. The only exception was the fashion show controller as I was not able to get a fashion show to start. I will be testing that again soon and updating it as required. If you have any problems with my objects you can report them in the Sims 2 Objects forum on my support site.

Sims 2 Objects Support Forum

I am working on a alot of new content for Bon Voyage and also something cool for OFB. I am still updating my site, I am just not being very fast about it as of late. I took the month of august off and I've been slow to get back to work.

09/10/2007

Bon Voyage Compatibility Update: I have tested all of my fixes with the Bon Voyage expansion pack. Everything on my fixes page appears to be 100% compatible with the new EP. If you believe you are having problem with my fixes, please post in my support forum and I will look into it.

08/03/2007

New Object: Shake Your Booty Dance Cage - This is my effort to create a Sims 1 style dance cage for the Sims 2. Other sims on the lot may come over and cheer for the person dancing in the cage (just like Sims 1). The object is located on the Other Objects page.

Object Update: Fashion Show Controller - If you had less than three models for your fashion show, the controller would throw and undefined transition error. This problem has now been corrected.

Object Update: Candy Crafting Station - Under certain circumstances the brain food controller was causing errors. Three of the sets objects have been altered to correct this. There was also a problem with candy that was not opened spoiling. Candy will now remain unspoiled as long as the box has not been opened.

You can find all of the above here: Sims 2 Objects

New Fix: Invite Entire Household - This fix alters the the invite household dialog so that you can always invite all family members, regardless of the maximum number of visitors the game thinks you should have. You can find it at the very bottom of the page here: Sims 2 Fixes

07/19/2007

New Object: Radio Controlled Penguin - Perhaps one of the silliest objects ever made for the Sims 2, it's a fully animated penguin that your sim controls like the radio controlled car. You can find it on the Radio Controlled Vehicles page here: Sims 2 Objects

07/11/2007

New Object Set: Fashion Show Controller - Now you can have models in designer clothing strutting their stuff on the catwalk. The fashion show controller will let you put on a fashion show with as many as eight models. Each model can be attired in any outfit in your game, including your favorite designer clothing (custom content). You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

6/21/2007

New Object Set: Fish Packing Station - The fish packing station allows your sims to pack fish into crates for more convenient (and profitable) sales. The fish from your business owner's inventory is turned into crates of six pieces each. Any playable sim or employee can be told to pack fish. There is a make many option that will let the sim pack crates until the fish runs out. You can find it under Business Facilitators here: Sims 2 Objects

06/15/2007

New Object: Plant Food Sprayer - This plant food sprayer can be used to improve the quality of garden plants and fruit trees by using it to apply plant food. The plant/tree will improve in health in a manner similar to tending or watering it. It is meant to be used as a suppliment to the normal gardening regime.

New Object: High Definition Television - I was rather dissapointed by the absense of a truly large high definition television in the game. The plasma wall tv is nice, but it is not suitable for a home theater setup. My rich sims needed a television that said, "I am so rich that I can afford to turn my entire wall into a televsion."

You can find both of the above objects under Home Life Improvements here: Sims 2 Objects

New Fix: Increased Reporter Spawnage - Your sim has a higher chance of being struck by lighting or bursting into flames than they do of seeing a reporter make a second visit to their business. I found that to be a rather unacceptable state of affairs. This fix will give an unreviewed business a 50% chance of getting a reporter visit. You can find it here:  Sims 2 Fixes

06/07/2007

New Object Set: Candy Crafting Station - The candy crafting station allows your sims or their employees to make five different types of candies. These candies each have a different effect when a sim consumes them. The candies are made in boxes of eight and the boxes may be sold and restocked in OFB businesses.

You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

05/29/2007

Note: My site is now located on a new server (That's why there was no update last week). I believe the site is 100% intact after the move. If you find anything missing or broken, please report it in the support forum.

New Object: Checkbook - This working checkbook can be use to send a check to another sim. The sim receiving the check can cash it to receive the funds. You can find it under Other Objects.

New Object: Small Chrome Post Shelving Unit - This three slot shelving unit has a slot for decorative items on every shelf. It will also work as a display case for OFB businesses (objects placed on it may be sold and restocked). The two recolorable subsets may be mixed and matched for increased decorative possibilities. Located on the Furniture page.

New Object Version: Timeclock 2.0 - The new version adds an optional shift feature to the timeclock. This feature will allow you to select a subset of your employees to be called in and sent home by the timeclock. When the shift mode is enabled the timeclock will only call in/send home the employees assigned to the shift. Multiple timeclocks can be used to call in mulitple shifts. It may be found on the Business Facilitators page.

You can find them all here: Sims 2 Objects

05/17/2007

New Object: Large Chrome Post Shelving Unit - This five-slot shelving unit has a slot for decorative items on every shelf. It will also work as a display case for OFB businesses (objects placed on it may be sold and restocked). The two recolorable subsets may be mixed and matched for increased decorative possibilities. You can find it under Furniture here: Sims 2 Objects

New Object: Radio Controlled Vampire Bat - This fully animated vsmpire bat works just like the original radio controlled car, except for the fact that it flies. You can find in on the Radio Controlled Vehicles page here: Sims 2 Objects

New Fix: Employees Use Farmer's Discount - With this fix in place, gardening employees that fertilize or plant crops will use the farmer's (business owner's) garden club discount. You can find it here: Sims 2 Fixes

05/10/2007

New Object: Radio Controlled Bird - This fully animated bird works just like the original radio controlled car, except for the fact that it flies. It comes in five different colors, all in the same package file.

New Object Version: Employee Gardening Controller 2.0 with Auto Planting Module - I have added two objects to the employee gardening controller to enable employee planting. The Auto Planting Module and the Farm Field Location Marker can be used to instruct your employees on how many of each type of crop to plant and where to plant them.

Object Update: Servo Charging Station 1.1 - The charging station is now visitor enabled so it can be used by employee servos. The internal object category has been changed so it no longer looks like a shower to the game. The expansion pack flags have been cleared so it no longer thinks it requires University when it does not.

You can find them all here: Sims 2 Objects

05/03/2007

New Object: Employee Fishing Controller. This controller allows you to assign an OFB employee to fishing. The fish the employee catches will show up in the business owner's inventory. You can find it under Business Facilitators here: Sims 2 Objects

New Object: Maximum Strength Disinfectant. Allows a sim to spray other sims with a disinfectant that cures all diseases. It also has an option to fumigate the lot to remove disease tile markers. You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

04/26/2007

New Object: Employee Musician Controller. The Employee Musician Controller will allow you to assign an OFB employee to play a musical instrument. Multiple employees will play together as a band. You can choose the type of music (rock, country or jazz) that the employee or employees will play. You can find it under Business Facilitators here: Sims 2 Objects

Program Update: Sims 2 NPC Replacer 1.00.11. There were some installations of The Sims 2 that had registry entries with different path information for the location of the base game. This was causing the program to halt with an error 76 when it was loading. I have updated my library code to test the path found in the registry to insure that it is valid. The program will now compensate for any minor variations in the stored path for the base game and it's expansions. There are no other changes in this version. Sims 2 Programs

Fix Update: No Reacting To Rain Or Snow 1.1. I discovered, much to my chargrin, that the reaction interaction was being pushed onto sims via several different methods. Since my first fix only closed off one pathway, it failed to completely prevent the sims from reacting to the weather. I am sorry that the first version was so unreliable. Sims 2 Fixes

04/19/2007

New Object Set: Produce Packing Station. The produce packing station allows your sims to pack produce into crates for more convenient (and profitable) sales. The produce from your business owner's inventory is turned into crates of 12 pieces each. Any playable sim or employee can be told to pack produce. There is a make many option that will let the sim pack crates until the produce runs out.

The crates of produce that are created can be unpacked again. Unpacking a crate will place twelve units of the contained produce into the inventory of the sim that unpacks it. It is possible for playable sims to visit owned community lots and purchase crates of produce. They can then unpack the crates when they get home and use the produce to make juice.

You can find it under Business Facilitators here: Sims 2 Objects

04/12/2007

New Object: Mrs Crumplebottom's Purse. This purse will allow any teen, adult or elder sim to go smacking on another sim, just like Mrs. Crumplebottom. You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

04/05/2007

New Object: Wrath Of The Gods. This statue will allow you to release several disasters of biblical proportions on your sims. These disaters range from lightning storms and rain of fire to the ever popular plague of locusts. Warning: Use if this product may result in injury, death and/or loss of consortium. You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

New Fix: No Reacting To Rain Or Snow. Prevents sims from running to the window and doing the "ooh it's raining" thing. It is cute the first few times, but after that it is just plain annoying. You can find it here: Sims 2 Fixes

03/29/2007

New Object: Freeze Ray. This raygun will instantly freeze any sim that it's fired at. The frozen sim will be completely immobized until they thaw out again. The frozen sim is not harmed in any way and does not suffer any extra motive loss from being frozen.

Object Update: No Employee Door. The previous version of the No Employee Door would fail to prevent the passage of employees under certain circumstances . That deficientcy has been corrected. The improved version of the door will prevent the passage of employees that are on duty, while allowing employees to pass through if they are on the lot socially.

Object Update: Sanibot 5000.  Fixed a bug detecting/cleaning up serving bowls.

Object Update: Lightning Helm and Scary Masks. Fixed a problem with the menus not appearing correctly for non US-English versions of the Sims 2.

You can find them all here: Sims 2 Objects

03/22/2007

New Object: Employee Gardening Controller. This controller allows you to assign an OFB employee to gardening. The employee will tend all plants and fruit trees that create produce. When the produce is ready the employees will harvest it. Employees will also fertilize empty garden plots. The only thing that your sim farmer needs to do is the planting. You can find it under Business Facilitators.

Object Rebuild: Modular Automatic Buffets. Both the original buffet table and the pizza buffet table were completely rebuilt so they could be successfully recolored. There are also six new recolors for the tables on the Modular Automatic Buffet Table page.

You can find them both here: Sims 2 Objects

03/16/2007

New Object: Simmometer. The Simmometer will report the current outdoor temperature as well as the temperature of any sims on the lot.

Object Update: Seasons and Weather Controller. The options to set the seasons were labled incorrectly if the hood's seasons were set in any order other than the default. I took the advice of one of the simmers that posted in my support forum and relabled the choices as Season 1, Season 2, Season 3 and Season 4. The functionality of the object is unchanged. There are some pictures on the Seasons and Weather Controller page that explain the change in detail.

You can find them both under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

Program Update: Sims 2 NPC Replacer. A library change some months ago caused the NPC replacer to not run if you did not have both the University and Nightlife expansion packs. The program would generate an error 76 during the initial program load. The program has been updated so it will run correctly with one or both of those expansion packs absent. Sims 2 Programs

03/09/2007

New Fix: No Random Bursting Into Flames. The Seasons expansion pack has added the annoyance of sims bursting into flames if they are hot (not having heat stroke mind you, just merely hot). This has proven to be Seasons least popular new addition. This fix prevents any Seasons related bursting into flames.

New Fix: No Social Worker For Hot Or Cold. Prevents the social worker from being called because a child is too hot or too cold. With this in place it is actually possible for children to feeze solid just like adults. I have the pics to prove it. :p

You can find them both here: Sims 2 Fixes

03/08/2007

Program Update: Sims 2 Categorizer. The program has been fully updated to support Sims 2 Seasons. Please sea the current version post in the support forum for a full list of changes.

Program Update: Sims 2 NPC Replacer. There was a rare issue that was causing a Permission Denied error during log file creation on some computers. The program has been recompiled with new code that should eliminate this problem.

Program Update: Hack Conflict Detection Utility. There was a rare issue that was causing a Permission Denied error during log file creation on some computers. The program has been recompiled with new code that should eliminate this problem.

You can find all three programs here: Sims 2 Programs

Objects Updated: Phasors and Rayguns. There was a rare bug that caused the phasors and rayguns to throw an error when used (the sim would reset and drop the raygun). This has now been corrected. (This is not Seasons related.)

Fixes Updated: All of the fixes on my Sims 2 Fixes page are compatible with the Sims 2 Seasons expansion pack. The Customers Leave After Purchase fix has been updated to reflect the changes seasons made to the Patron Buy procedure.

New Furniture Mesh Recolors: My Round Cafe Table and Cafe Chair have been added to the furniture page. These are the same meshes that originally resided on www.simthing.net. They have been rereleased here with 12 new recolors.

New Object: Season and Weather Controller. The Seasons and Weather Controller allows you to change the current season and the season's length with just a couple of mouse clicks. There is also an option to make weather and even turn weather off altogether. You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

Seasons Compatibility Update

I have been trying out my custom objects in the Seasons expansion pack. Most of them seem to perform correctly. I have compiled a working list here:
Seasons Object Compatibility List

I have also been analyzing the code changes in Seasons to determine if my "fixes" are compatible or not (most are!). You can find the fixes list here:
Seasons Fixes Compatibility List

Sims 2 Categorizer will need to be udated for Seasons. The current version does work correctly, it simply lacks the new gardening category, new Seasons wants categories and the Seasons expansion pack flag. The new version will have a few other minor enhancements as well.

02/22/2007

New Object: Automatic Modular Pizza Buffet. This unique buffet table system
will allow you to serve pizza as a buffet style meal. Multiple units may be
combined to form an extended buffet table of any length. The buffet table
pieces may be restocked manually or can be set to automatically refill when
they are empty. On business lots the table can be set to charge for meals.
This table will link up with the original modular automatic buffet table to
form one seamless unit. You can find it under Custom Buffets here:  Sims 2 Objects

New Object: Large Shelving Unit. This large shelving unit has ten slots for
decorative items. The shelving unit will also work as a display case for OFB
businesses (objects placed on it may be sold and restocked). You can find it under Furniture here: Sims 2 Objects

Program Update: Sims 2 Categorizer. There was an issue in clearing all of
the expansion pack flags from an object. If all of the EP flags were
cleared, the object would no longer show up in the object catalog. This has
been corrected. No other changes are present in this version. You can find it here: Sims 2 Programs

02/15/2007

New Object: Roll Top Style Desk. This desk was styled after your typical roll top desk. The top shelf of the desk has two slots for decorative objects.

New Object: Half Height Library Shelving. The half height library shelving unit has three slots that you may place other objects into. It was designed to match the Dahlen Library shelving and it even shares the same recolors. The shelving unit will also work as a display case for OFB businesses (objects placed on it may be sold and restocked).

You can find them both under Furniture here: Sims 2 Objects

02/08/2007

New Object: Basic Desk With Hutch. This basic desk has a two shelf hutch over it. Up to six decorative objects may be placed on the hutch, three on each shelf.

New Object: Five Slot Library Shelving. The library shelving unit has five slots that you may place other objects into. It was designed to match the Dahlen Library shelving and it even shares the same recolors. The shelving unit will also work as a display case for OFB businesses (objects placed on it may be sold and restocked).

Object Update: Curved Corner Shelving. I have updated this object to make all of the slots on the shelves face outward into the room. This makes objects placed on the shelves face the front of the unit by default. (It looks much better this way.) I have also included the recolor template in the zip file (which I simply forgot to do the first time).

You can find all three of these objects under Furniture here: Sims 2 Objects

02/01/2007

New Object: Curved Corner Shelving Unit. This curved corner shelving unit has a slot on every shelf. You can place up to five decorative objects on it at once. You can find it on the new furniture page here: Sims 2 Objects

01/25/2007

New Object: Sani-Bot 5000. The Sani-Bot 5000 cleaning robot is what the OFB cleanbot should have been. This flying robot can remove all forms of dirty dishes, trash and other miscellaneous debris from your lot using it's powerful disintegrator ray. There are twenty two different kinds of messes that it can clean up. It even removes roaches whether they are dead or alive. You can find it under Robots here:   Sims 2 Objects

01/11/2007

New Object: Employee Maintenance Controller. Don't you just hate that fact that the only sim that can fix items on a business lot is the lot's owner? Wouldn't it be nice if you could assign an employee to do the maintenance chores on a business lot? If you answered yes to these questions, the employee maintenance controller may be right for you!

This controller will turn any OFB business employee into a maintenance person. The employee will repair any broken items on the lot. If there are no broken items to repair, the employee will spend their time mopping the floor. You can find it under Business Facilitators here: Sims 2 Objects

Object Update: Playable Maid Controller. There was a bug where the maid would show up twice in the same hour if your house did not need cleaning. Version 1.1 of the controller corrects this.

01/04/2007

New Object: Playable Maid Controller. This controller will allow you to hire another playable sim as a maid. The maid can be scheduled to work any time of the day or night. The playable sim working as the maid will actually keep the money earned while on the job. You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

12/28/2006

New Object: TNG Style Phaser. This is a type II hand phaser first seen in the Next Generation movie First Contact (the best Star Trek movie ever made). It was used in Star Trek Voyager from the 3rd season on and it was also used in Deep Space Nine. You can find it on the new Star Trek page. Sims 2 Objects

12/21/2006

New Objects: 3 New Radio Controlled Vehicles. I have added a monster truck, a firetruck and a toy robot to the radio controlled vehicle page

New Object: Cantina Bot. This nifty little robot will retrieve any of the group meals in the game. He will place the meal on an open counter top near the sim that placed the food order. If you have nightlife the robot will also be able to retrieve restaurant food. As an added bonus the group meals retrieved by the cantina bot have eight servings each. You can find it on the new Robots page.

Update Note: The servo accessories are now located on the new Robots page.

You can find them all here: Sims 2 Objects

12/14/2006

New Object Set: Refurbishable Computer and Replacement Parts. This name brand computer was returned under warranty. It is currently broken. It can be repaired by adding replacement parts. The value of the computer will be much higher after it is repaired.

The five components that can be replaced in it are the CPU, hard drive, video card, RAM and power supply. The replacement parts are small sculptures and can be used for decoration or as OFB goods to sell (in addition to being used to repair the computer). I plan on building a computer shop in my new City of Jamestown neighborhood.

You can find it here:  Sims 2 Objects

12/07/2006

New Section: Starter Homes. On the starter homes page you will find a collection of very low cost homes, intended for new sims that are just starting out. All of the homes are base game compliant and do not require any expansion packs or custom content. You can find them here: Starter Homes

11/30/2006

New Objects: Openable Gifts. When the gifts are opened they will generate one of four possible presents from objects included in the base game. The object generated will have a value equal to or slightly greater than the cost of the gift package. All the sims in the same room as the new object will ooh and ahh over it. The gifts are recolorable, so there should be pleny of different gift wraps available. There are five different types of openable gifts at present. You can find them all here:  Sims 2 Objects

11/16/2006

Program Update: Sims 2 Categorizer 1.01.07. The new version allows the "expansion pack required" flags to be set or cleared. The new wants satisfy categories introduced with pets have also been added. Sims 2 Programs

New Object: Servo Security System. The Servo Security System will turn any servo into a powerful home defender. The unit will direct the servo assigned to it to attack any burglars or deviants that enter the lot automatically (a deviant is person who steals newpapers or kicks over the trash). The unit can also make servo attack any sim on the lot on command. You can find it under Other Objects here: Sims 2 Objects

11/09/2006

New Objects: Two new one-tile pet bed meshes. I have added a bed style and a chair style pet bed mesh to my one-tile pet beds. Both new styles have a big pile of recolors too. Sims 2 Objects

Object Updates: All six styles of one tile pet beds are now "reservable". You can use any sim to assign a pet bed to a specific pet. It is not neccessary to use the new reservable feature; the beds can be used just like the original beds. Code for the reservable feature was provided by Inge Jones.

Program Update: Sims 2 Categorizer. McAfee Antivirus 2007 has some kind of bug that causes it to lock the file handels on some of the files that it scans. This was causing an Error 70 when Sims 2 Categorizer was trying to clean up it's log files. I have made two key changes to the program that should allow it to function even if you have a buggy antivirus program. Sims 2 Programs

11/02/2006

New Objects: One Tile Pet Beds. I am pleased to introduce one tile pet beds. The beds have the same exact functionality of the original pet beds, they are just a more compact form factor. There are two types of pet beds, those that use a modified original mesh and those that use a custom mesh. The pet beds that use a modified original game mesh share the textures of the original beds. Any recolors made for the original bed of the same shape will be automatically available for the one tile versions.

You can find them all here: Sims 2 Objects

Sims 2 Pets Compatibility Update!

I was pretty fortunate in that most of my content and programs were almost completely unaffected by the Pets Expansion pack. I have tested everything on my website and it all functions correctly with Sims 2 Pets. (The few items that did not work have been updated or replaced.)

Program Update: Sims 2 Categorizer 1.01.05. The program has been updated to edit the new "Pets" category under Miscellaneous objects. This is the only change from the previous version. Sims 2 Programs

Fixes Updated: Customers Leave After Purchase
Customers Leave After Purchase-Playables Dont Go Broke
Both of these fixes had a very arbitrary one byte change made to them by Pets. As far as I could tell, the change made no difference in the operation of this procedure. I dutifully made the same change to my fixes. The new version works for OFB with or without Pets. Sims 2 Fixes

New Fix Version: Throw Massive Parties. There is a new version of this fix that is only for Pets. The orginal version is still valid for OFB and Nightlife.

I have one other fix (Replacement Remote Business Payout Calculation) that still needs to be update for Pets. Other than that, the entire site has been tested with Pets and everything else appears to function correctly. :)

10/19/2006

New Object: Star Trek Type II Phasor. This working phasor can be used to stun other sims. The stunned sim will be rendered unconscious for a short period of time. This object is completely harmless. You can find it here: Sims 2 Objects

New Object: Servo Chore Controller. The Servo Chore Controller will allow you to determine which chores a servo will and will not do. The unit has a setting for the chore frequency and an auto-recharge option if you have my servo charging station.Mutiple units can be used to make different servos do different chores. You can find it here: Sims 2 Objects

IMPORTANT: My 'Replacement Remote Business Payout Calculation' fix for OFB should not be used with Sims 2 Pets. I will need to make a new version of the fix that will work with Sims 2 Pets.

10/12/2006

I already have a list of fixes for Sims 2 pets, some of them involving strays and pets running loose on community lots. I think that Pets is going to make for a busy November.

Object Update: Radio Controlled Kia Rio. This RC vehicle had a really large shadow and looked kind of funny indoors because of it. The shadow has now been fixed.

9/21/2006
